Fiber Optic Pigtail

Fiber optic pigtail is an important component commonly used in fiber optic networks. It has fiber connector at one end, and the other is utilized in terminating fiber optic cables via fusion or mechanical splicing. Feature a typical 900μm tight buffered as default, it is easy for fusion.

The Fiber Optic Pigtails are available in both single and multimode versions with either APC or UPC polish types. Our fiber optic pigtails are manufactured with superior quality materials to maintain the uptime and reliability of your network. We’re ready to assist you with any questions you might have.

Details about Fiber Optic Pigtail

The fiber optic pigtail is usually a tight buffered fiber cable with a factory-installed connector on one end and exposed fiber on the other. Fiber optic pigtails are used to be terminated fiber optic cables via fusion splicing or mechanical splicing.

The end of the pigtail is stripped and fusion spliced to a single fiber or a multi-fiber trunk. Splicing of pigtails to each fiber in the trunk “breaks out” the multi-fiber cable into its component fibers for connection to the end equipment. High quality fiber pigtails combined with correct fusion splicing practices offer the best performance for fiber optic cable termination.

When utilized properly, the fiber optic pigtail allows light signal transmission with minimal return loss and low attenuation.

Fiber pigtails are a great solution for fusion splicing inside of a fiber optic enclosure. Each strand is terminated on one end and the other end is left blunt so that it can be spliced to your drop cable. Because space is valuable, this pigtail comes without a jacket, allowing the pigtails to have a tighter bend radius and take up less space. These LC/SC/FC/ST/MPO/E2000 pigtails are available in a Singlemode OS2, Multimode OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4 or OM5 fiber types. Jacket and unjacketed fiber pigtails are all available.
